Led by surprisingly good earnings by two Dow components, stocks (at least measured by the Dow) were able to break the 3 day losing streak. Both Caterpillar and Boeing announced better than expected results and provided rosier than expected guidance for the year ahead. But because of yesterday’s afternoon miss by Apple, the NASDAQ was down for the day.

At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 58 points to close at 12,676. The S&P 500 was down a fraction to finish the day at 1337. Gold was up $27 to trade at $1603 per ounce, while oil was up $.42 to trade at $88.92 per barrel WTI. So basically we had a mixed day for stocks but at least the Dow broke the losing streak.

We had a great turnout at our lunch today for the next generation. We really enjoyed meeting some of your children and young adults in your life. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed doing it. Our plan is to make it an annual event.

Have a nice evening everyone.
