Stocks recovered after yesterday’s softness, as despite the occasional “sell on the good news”, earnings reports continue to be good. We will get a look at Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Intel and others after the closing bell today, which will likely set the tone for tomorrow’s trading session.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 71 points to finish the day at 23,401. The S&P 500 was up 3 points to close at 2,560. Gold was down $11 to trade at $1,267 per ounce, while oil was up $.48 to trade at $52.66 per barrel WTI.

The President’s war on opioids and the report that Amazon has gotten licensing for 12 pharmacies sent some of the pharmacy providers shares tumbling. But, the financials and the industrials continue to show strength. Today’s bevy of tech earnings will give us an indication on the future direction of tech stocks as we close out the year. Stay tuned, it will be an interesting afternoon.

Have a nice evening everyone.
