Friends

There was some economic data to chew on today, namely a good initial jobless claims number (lowest number since 1969), a revised 3rd quarter GDP number slightly higher, and a lousy durable goods orders number. But after a slew of mixed earnings data from numerous retailers over the past couple of weeks, market participants continue to tread lightly as we head into the final month of the year.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 9 points to finish the day at 35,804. The S&P 500 was up 10 points to close at 4,701. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 70 points to close at 15,845. Gold was up $3 to trade at $1,787 per ounce, while oil was down $.25 to trade at $78.25 per barrel WTI.

The market will be open for a half a day of trading on Friday (usually very quiet) but unless something big happens we’ll be back with you on Monday. In the meantime …

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!
