It was an extremely quiet trading session today. Without any catalyst in either direction, stocks simply hovered around the breakeven level and showed little conviction. Brexit, a China trade deal, political intrigue- nothing seems to be affecting the markets this week.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 7 points to finish the day at 25,709. The S&P 500 was down 2 points to close at 2,808. Gold was down $13 to trade at $1,295 per ounce, while oil was up $.22 to trade at $58.48 per barrel WTI.
Despite today’s ennui, the bulls have had a pretty good week. But guess where we seem to be stuck again- you guessed it 2800 on the S&P. On the economic front we get industrial production and consumer sentiment numbers tomorrow. Let’s see how things finish out for the week.
