Stocks Continue Mixed Week

We had another horrific first time unemployment claims number this morning. These numbers are mind numbing, but obviously we all hope that they are temporary. Of course, as time goes on we’ll find out which of these job losses are permanent and which are not.

Stocks spent the day mainly in negative territory, but this week’s down days have been overshadowed by two really good days. By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 101 points to finish the day at 24,474. The S&P500 was down 23 to close at 2,948. Gold was down $26 to trade at $1,725 per ounce, while oil was up $.52 to trade at $34.01 per barrel WTI.

It’s been a mixed week so far, but as mentioned, the good days have been better than the bad days. Let’s see how the week wraps up as we going into a three day holiday weekend.

Have a nice evening everyone.
