It was a choppy day for stocks as attempts to rally were met with selling pressure. Investors seem to be running out of patience with the stimulus bill negotiations, as the headlines seem to change on an hourly basis. Netflix had the most talked about earnings release after the close yesterday, and the results disappointed a bit thus the shares saw some selling pressure in today’s session.
As for the overall market, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 98 points to finish the day at 28,210. The S&P 500 was down 7 points to close at 3,435. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 31 points to close at 11,484. Gold was up $11 to trade at $1,926 per ounce, while oil was down $1.70 to trade at $40.00 per barrel WTI.
We get Tesla’s earnings after the close today, and that always provides great theater. Otherwise market participants are acting a little tentative as the election draws near. What is priced in, and what isn’t? I guess we’ll see soon enough.
Have a nice evening everyone.
