Stocks were mixed on the final trading session of the week as investors prepare for the onslaught of earnings that will be coming at them next week. We’ll be hearing from the likes of Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Meta (Facebook), Alphabet (Google), Starbucks, Merck, Pfizer, Clorox, AbbVie, GM, Boeing, Exxon Mobil, and Chevron – just to name a few. That is quiet a lineup.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 60 points to finish the day at 38,109. The S&P 500 was down 3 points to close at 4,890. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 55 points to close at 15,455. Gold was up $1 to trade at $2,018 per ounce, while oil was up $.79 to trade at $78.15 per barrel WTI.

January had a rocky start, but it appears that the bulls might be able to notch another victory once the finished line is reached next Wednesday. But there are a lot of earnings reports that could be market movers next week so let’s first see how all that plays out.

Have a great weekend everyone.
