Despite a disappointing earnings release from Google after the close yesterday, stocks found their footing today and were mostly able to move higher. Nasdaq was able to squeeze out a small gain, but the Dow carried the water for stocks in general.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 317 points to finish the day at 44,873. The S&P 500 was up 23 points to close at 6,061. The Nasdaq was up 38 points to close at 19,692. Gold was up $8 to trade at $2,884 per ounce, while oil was down $1.49 to at $71.21 per barrel WTI.
It appears the bulls still have the upper hand with regards to the markets, but there are a lot of headlines on a daily basis for market participants to deal with. We still have Amazon’s earnings on Thursday and then the non-farm payroll number on Friday. So far the bulls have survived Tariff Monday and continued to push stocks higher. Let’s see how the rest of the week goes.
Have a nice evening everyone.
