Stocks drifted in higher territory today, as traders wait for the all-important jobs report tomorrow. Today’s weekly jobless claims number was a little better than expected, but tomorrows number will likely set the tone for the markets as we look into next week (unless of course things escalate overseas).

By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 61 points to finish the day at 16,421. The S&P 500 was up 3 to close at 1877. Gold was up $10 to trade at $1350 per ounce, while oil was up $.57 to trade at $102.02 per barrel WTI.

For those of you keeping score, analysts are estimating that 150,000 new jobs were created in February. Let’s see how the guestimates turn out. The last couple of months have been very disappointing and the “guesses” quite wrong. We’ll let you know how it unfolds and how the last day of trading for the week plays out.

Have a nice evening everyone.
