Guess what! We had a lot of volatility today. I know, what a shock, huh? Actually, it was shaping up to be another great day for the bulls, and after a late date hiccup, it did end up being a great one, but of course we had to have a little drama along the way. After being up 381 Dow points stocks began to tumble with about an hour and a half left in the trading session. The Dow fell to a level where the gains were less than 100 points. But a late buying spree took us back near the highs of the day. The biggest gain of the day actually came in oil as WTI was up a whopping 10%, which was the best day oil has seen in a few years.
By the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 369 points to finish the day at 16,654. The S&P 500 was up 47 points to close at 1987. Gold was down $1 to trade at $1123 per ounce, while the aforementioned oil was up $4 to trade at $42.60 per barrel WTI. The move in oil was stunning. Of course, let’s see if it last for more than a day.
What a wild week of trading it has been, and we still have one more day to go. Buckle up, and we’ll get you through tomorrow’s action and give you a full report before we sign off for the weekend.
