Another very quiet day of trading as stocks seem to be stuck in time, seemingly at once just a nice afternoon rally away from Dow 20,000, and a market that seems 20,000 miles away from Dow 20,000.  For weeks now, rallies have stalled out quickly, yet selloffs haven’t picked up any steam either. Perhaps the start of corporate earnings season will wake up the markets from this sleep walking episode.

As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 31 points to finish the day at 19,855. The S&P 500 was up mostly unchanged to close at 2268. Gold was up $1 to trade at $1,186 per ounce, while oil was down $1.16 to trade at $50.80 per barrel WTI. Nat Gas was up $.0172 to finish trading at $3.275.

We sent out via email our 1st quarter 2017 outlook piece today. I hope you enjoy it. If you didn’t receive it let us know. Of course, clients will receive a hard copy of the piece with their quarterly summary statement.

Have a nice evening everyone.
