While the longer end of the yield curve continues to see yields moving higher, stocks are in a little bit of a slump as earnings season begins to wind down. But first we get a look at Apple and Amazon’s earnings after the close today. Apple especially could set the tone for tomorrow’s trading, as will the release of the non-farm payroll number.
As for today, by the close the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 67 points to finish the day at 35,215. The S&P 500 was down 11 points to close at 4,501. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 13 points to close at 13,959. Gold was down $5 to trade at $1,969 per ounce, while oil was up $2.23 to trade at $81.72 per barrel WTI.
There should be some fireworks after the close today with those earnings releases and then tomorrow morning with the jobs report. We’ll let you know how it all plays out tomorrow.
Have a nice evening everyone.
